Mitch Dion is a drummer, percussionist, recording artist and teaching artist based in Boston Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2018 with a Bachelor's of Music concentrating in Percussion Performance. His performance experience and musical training have spanned across all genres of music.

Dion has released solo music under various project names since 2018. His latest work, under the name Grubb, consists of multi-styled pieces that explore droning melodic expression, digital noise and the infinite prolognation of ideas using both compotisional and improvisational methods. Albums often feature collaborations with fellow multi-genre artists. His latest LP Floral & Citrus (2022) was released on cassette through Seattle based label Drongo Tapes.

As a performer, Dion has played with bands and ensembles of all genres across greater Boston and beyond. Active bands include progressive rock group Verdegree as well as experimental group The Big Nest. Dion was a performance fellow for the Nief-Norf summer festival in 2019. Previously he has performed in orchestral settings with the Concord Orchestra, Opera51, Symphony Pro Musica, as well as pit orchestras for various musicals. He has multiple recording credits on albums by fellow creative contemporaries.

Dion has taught private lessons, group classes and ensembles since 2016 to students of all ages. He is currently on staff at Zach Field Drums and Music in Newburyport, MA where he offers instruction of all percussion instruments and music production.
